From the Photographer:

Jane and Brendan looked at over 50 wedding venues before they discovered that no package wedding would do for them. Both designers by trade they knew that a blank canvas was the only way they could create their dream day. Fortunately, Midtown Loft & Terrace provided them with this blank canvas. The venue is ideally located in Midtown Manhattan, which allowed their guests coming from all over the globe to make a weekend of it in the big apple. Keeping within a budget and controlling design elements was very important to them and they made the decision to hand make many of these elements themselves.
Thematically they wanted to combine their love of the rustic outdoors of upstate New York and his love of vintage grand prix racing. Choosing coral and turquoise as their colors, and burlap and kraft as textures and paper, gave them the necessary colors and looks associated with a summer, rustic wedding. They wanted the evening to be farmhouse chic, right in the heart of New York. Several custom burlap pillows decorated the furniture in order to bring some of that rustic appeal into the space. Jane and Brendan designed and printed their kraft paper invitations, sealing each one with a wax seal. When unfolded it read as if were and old time advertisement for a Broadway show. Programs doubled as fans were also designed and printed by the couple. Additional printed pieces that were also created by the couple were the seating cards and menus, which were also done on kraft paper to match many of the other printed pieces that were made. One of the bridesmaids illustrated the wedding book/poster that all the guests then stamped with their fingers and signed. A close friend of the couple performed the ceremony on the rooftop. Cocktails and passed hors d’ouvres followed on the roof as the sun set over the Hudson. Time to dine and dance in the loft.
The couples opted for rectangular wooded farm tables laid out in long rows to give the feeling of eating at an outdoor picnic table. No table linens were used exposing the natural texture of the tables. They were dressed up using a burlap runners on top of which the coral colored centerpieces sat in galvanized tins. Candles adorn the tables along with bottles of wine, which had been labeled over with various grand prix track labels and vintage race numbers to act as table numbers. The stemware was simple but had the necessary pop, as they were turquoise. Mason jars dressed up with hand made straws each decorated with a little flag served as water glasses.
The gift table was made to look like a flea market. To hold the wedding cards a custom box was made by the groom to look like an old leather trunk complete with travel stickers. The desert table held miniature pies set upon a tiered birch bark holder provided by their florist. A custom made pie topper, ordered by the bride to surprise the groom, was displayed. It was created by an Etsy artist to look like the bride and groom on their wedding, but with a bit of a racing twist. After dinner and dancing, guests were invited to pick up their favors. Custom boxes were made by the groom to hold lottery tickets with a sticker on the outside reading, “Lucky in Love”
Finally, for those who had not danced enough another small after party on the rooftop completed the evening allowing guests to wind down while enjoying the fantastic views of Midtown Manhattan at night.
